I am very fortunate to be the new pastor at First Congregational Church of Plainfield. I look forward to serving the people in this community, in the name and in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. I have several theological degrees and experience in previous churches, but the real test is here and now. Can I love with compassion, teach with wisdom, and be a good communicator with everyone in the church? Can I remember to attend to the big stuff and to responsibilities, and not sweat the small stuff?
Can we all work on our relationships, on respect and on the ability to listen? Can we rejoice in the gift of life, the gift of family, the gift of the Spirit, who will "guide you into all the truth" (John 16:13)?
Spending time with Jesus is "the one thing needful" (Luke 10:42). We learn about God, about love, about truth and goodness, from Jesus, who is the "image of God" (2 Cor 4:4), the one who reveals God to us.
